Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian Wed in New Orleans
They met in Rome at a chance early morning breakfast and the rest is a worldwind to a fairytale New Orleans wedding. Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian celebrated their union with a Beauty and the Beast themed wedding Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans. The wedding attended by Anna Wintour, Kelly Roland, Ciara, Beyoncé, Kim Kardashian-West among 200 family and friends was engulfed in glamour and love. The non-traditional wedding took place on Ohanian’s late mother’s birthday (November 16th) included couches for seating, two dress changes (into Versace gowns), Southern, Armenian (a nod to Alexis’s heritage), and Italian food, a “steak house” station and a salad wall, for the perfect “modern ball” culminating with a carousel, a surprise for Serena from Alexis.
Williams was a sight to see in a Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen strapless gown with ball gown tulle skirt with cape and $3.5 million worth of Louis XIV rose gold jewels. Alexis wore an Armani tux with Baby Alexis in a satin and jeweled dress and knitted jeweled Booties and family Yorkie Chip in his own tiny tux.
The couple read their own vows that filled the room with love including Alexis’ vows that brought the room to tears, “You are the greatest of all time, not just in sport,” he told Serena. “I’m talking about as a mother and as a wife. I am so excited to write so many more chapters of our fairy tale together. And my whole life I didn’t even realize it, but I was waiting for this moment. And everything that I have done, everything that I am so proud of in my career, and in my life, for the last 34 years, pales in comparison to what we’re doing today. And I am so grateful, and I am so in love.” Beautiful!
