“The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. It marks the grand opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit. Each year’s event celebrates the theme of that year’s Costume Institute exhibition, and the exhibition sets the tone for the formal dress of the night since guest are expected to choose their fashion to match the theme of the exhibit.” This year’s theme was “China: Through the Looking Glass”. I must say a lot of attendees stuck to the theme perfectly while others used it as just another night to dress up!
Here is the run down of those worth a mention color coordinated since I didn’t necessarily have ab favs and not so favs of the night.
Sofia Vergara – Marchesa
Lizzy Caplan – Donna Karan Atelier
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley – Atelier Versace
Irina Shayk – Atelier Versace
Kerry Washington – Prada – Not my most fav the color or boxy shape did nothing for for her. Perhaps if the top was more fitted with a bit of a lower cut it would have been more flattering. The hi-low cut also didn’t really work since she is pretty petite. It was however a beautifully constructed gown with GORG embroidery. Her green shoes and clutch did give her look a great “pop”!
