Miss Universe is…Demi Leigh Nel-Peters of South Africa!
Demi Leigh Nel-Peters from South Africa! She beat out Miss Colombia Laura Gonzàlez and Miss Jamaica Davina Bennett. Demi is 22 with a degree in business management from North-West University. She is brains and a lot of power as she helped develop a program to train women in self-defense in various situations after she was robbed at gunpoint a month after she was crowned as Miss South Africa.
When asked about issues effecting women in the workplace around the world she answered eloquently: “In some places, women get paid 75% of what men earn for doing the same job, working the same hours — and I do not believe that this is right,“ she said. “I think we should have equal work for equal pay for women all over the world.”
“If women take hands and stand together, we are unbreakable,” the 22-year-old South African said, “and we can say no to the things that are wrong in the workplace, at home or wherever you might go.”

Lele Pons wore a pretty beaded Yousef Aljasmi dress in blush pin. I wasn’t in love with the DSquared sandals or her hair. This dress begged for a simpler shoe and an updo. Fergie looked a little stuffed in a Strass crystal cabochon and silvertone studded, striped Balmain, long sleeve, mini dress. I love the dress, it just looked a little too tight. The strappy black pumps was a cool touch.
