So for the CR Fashion book pièce de résistance, Beyoncé was clad in many different Fall 2014 looks. Some made sense and some left me scratching my head.
A Yohji Yamamoto cape was chosen for the cover and though colorful and rife with whimsy it looked a little weird especially with the half asleep look Bey kept on her face throughout the spread. I guess she missed Tyra Banks’ whole “smize” sessions. Maybe that is why they chose the black sequin mask with pink pom poms as an alternate cover?
We then see QB in YSL posed like a grasshopper or a bunny rabbit? Not sure but she was in full squat position gazing off into the…uh well distance…Her CHANEL surfboard look with Nike & RT t-shirt and Corine Gibson corset was interesting and kind of cool but the look on her face is just weird, sad and kind of sleepy with no life.
The choice of Comme des Garçons tied sweatshirts and tattered tights was my least favorite look while she did look zen and pretty in printed Givenchy, her make up was GORG and her eyes a little more modelesque though still low. Another kind of cool look was a camel Celine coat paired with Manolo Blahnik shoes and Lorraine Schwartz jewels. Her body looked amaze as she seemed to dust off her hands so nonchalant covered in head to toe hair…ok. The last look was a mix of not so glam Prada pieces that I could not make myself like.
Overall I just can’t give this an A maybe a C for effort. I am all for high fashion, artistic spreads with poems that are so deep no one understands them but this just didn’t werk for me.
CHECKED OUT still the queen but…yeah ok.
