Virgil Abloh Named Head of Louis Vuitton Menswear

Off White designer Virgil Abloh has been named Louis Vuitton’s menswear designer when Creative Director Kim Jones stepped down to join Dior Homme, Nicolas Ghesquière will continue as Creative Director for Louis Vuitton womenswear.  This makes Abloh the  first African-American artistic director for Louis Vuitton and there are very few in these coveted roles.  Olivier Rousteing is the creative director for Balmain and Ozwald Boateng, designed for Givenchy menswear from 2003 to 2007.

“I feel elated,” Mr. Abloh said “This opportunity to think through what the next chapter of design and luxury will mean at a brand that represents the pinnacle of luxury was always a goal in my wildest dreams. And to show a younger generation that there is no one way anyone in this kind of position has to look is a fantastically modern spirit in which to start.”

I cannot wait to see what he comes up with!
